"Mortal...Funeral" is not an "official release" by italian death metal band MORTAL FUNGUS. It's available as a private print with a xeroxed cover from the band itself or through Gentle Exhuming Records, which probably will ask for postage only.
"Mortal...Funeral" features rehearsal stuff that the band recorded from 1992 through 1994, before disbanding for the first time. Anyway, my copy has a bonus track, a version of "Commemoration of the dead" taken from the "Frightening Countries" sessions.
The remaining 36 songs are badly written, played and recorded, that's no surprise because MORTAL FUNGUS prior to rehearsing and recording "Frightening Countries" were a completely different band, more in the vein of a sloppy demo-era Hellhammer than the Massacre/Obituary worshippers which we know today.
Someone still likes those tunes, but they actually hasn't any artistical value nowadays except, maybe, from an historical point of view.
This version of MORTAL FUNGUS (Frank on drums and vocals, Nay on guitar) eventually reformed playing sludge doom metal as WORLD FUNERAL in 2004, recording a self titled demo CD and a full lenght (2007's "Caledarium et frigidarium" available at Gentle Exhuming Records) before disbanding again in late 2008.
