Brazillian Prog Metallers Dynahead was a pleasant surprise for me. Right from the start you realize that they are capable musicians. Their flexibility from fast paced to slow down tempo to an unpredicted halt constantly through out songs, I say quite brilliant. So bring on the cheese and read on because I have nothing but good words to say about how pleased I am with this band.

After having a peek of their live material, I can say that they have a solid precision and the unbound energy on stage. Needless to say, it is a supplement to a great band. No one has the patience to watch a bunch of zombies on stage. No, that was a bad analogy because some zombies run and we in actuality find them, fascinating. You catch my drift though. Nobody wants to see a lifeless, unmoving performance. Unless you prefer to mosh the entire show, then I suppose it doesn't apply to you.

There is more than one thing the vocals have to offer. He gives you a taste of high pitch squeals, to what I call 'traditionally clean vocals' and an addendum of harsher sounds at the end of a line, which gives the convincing emotion of rage and total assault. The chord progression is full of layers and beauty. The guitar solos on the other hand doesn't shine as bright as it should, possessing that mediocre, typical Prog babble. And In addition to their odd yet groovy time signature, you begin to hear the impression of some sleazy Jazz. Their complexity alone with diminished tones and Tech feel, makes Dynahead sharp and recognizable. I'll be honest and say that it doesn't take a spin to get into their approach. Like good wine, they get better over time. But one can see the potential in Dynahead. In short time, they will be giants.

Very worth the buy and a good passage to undiscovered elements of Metal. As implied, they are unique in a way that it takes more than a listen to see deeper and have a better understanding. It's smart listening. Whatever that might mean.
