I don't give out 100's much, but this album has no flaws...I mean none. I couldn't find anything that could have been improved. Maybe I'm just a raving fan boy, but I'll leave that to you. Darkestrah's new album Epos is the most atmospheric piece of art I've ever listened to. It starts off with slow wave sounds and slowly progresses into a spectacular fully loaded Black Metal song. It is raw, while being symphonic and a little melodic at the same time. The drums are evenly coated throughout the song and the guitars are completely in tune with the rest of the song. The other great part is, it's about 33 minutes long. Boring? Not at all. Epos is like a roller coaster. When you think you're done with the ride, it keeps on going, leaving you breathless afterwards. In the middle of the song, it takes a 2 or 3 minute break with complete silence(so you can catch your breath I guess). Afterwards it picks up with the Darkestrah we all love. It starts off with a person chanting, and then picks up with the best guitar riff ever. It's again, a smooth yet raw melodic riff. Then comes the screaming, Oh, the screaming. It has the shaman feeling to it that resembles most of Darkestrah's earlier albums such as Embrace of Memory. I couldn't even compare Embrace with Epos because they're really different in many ways. They have their similarities, but we will set those aside. I recommend Epos to anyone who likes Black Metal, anyone, whether it's symphonic or just raw. You'll love it all the way around.
