Postcore! So describe Betray Your Idols their musical style. I would describe it as a mixture of Altzernative rock, Emo and Post hardcore influenced by bands like Save Our Souls, Blue October and maybe 30 Seconds to Mars but I can't be sure if the last group I named really is a influence for their musical style because it is their first album. I would call their style "Melodic Emotional Post Rockcore" or something like this. Cotillion that is the name Betray Your Idols choosed to be the album title. I don't know what it means (I don't find it in a dictionary). Cotillion is an interesting name for a album because I don't know another album which contains Cotillion in it. The cover artwork is interesting me too. I don't know how to describe it. Maybe the cover tells the listener what the songs could tell them. I don't have any lyrics at the moment but I will get them.
I just know that the lyrics deals about life and experiences, emotions and memories which the musicians had make in their past lives. The bands musical style
is influenced by multiple voices (they have two vocalists) and melodic sounds which they combine with modern post hardcore influences. Since their foundation the band is working on their live performance. Regional the band is known for their brilliant live shows. Kristian Schmidt and Daniel Plohmann founded the regional Circle Pit e.V. which help regional bands getting concerts in whole west of Germany and gigs with well-known German acts like Naeara, We Butter The Bread With Butter, Cocoon, We Are Wolf, Six Reasons To Kill and many more. Since 2007 that organization organized Circle Pit Festival for a audition of 450 people in Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler where 6 bands from the region Bad Neuenahr playing together with 6 of these international well-known acts I listed up in the last sentence.
I think it must be honored what I have done know.
I give the album 15 Points out of 20 because it is a solid work and it is their first half professional produced album so the band have the potential to get one of the best bands in the "Melodic Post hardcore" genre. Well maybe they can create a own kind of music style without becoming just another "Core"-band.
Awesome guys. I love it!
