Imagine this: You're in a cold and desolate arctic world. For miles you see snow. But wait, whats that in the horizon? Its a black speck. As you walk closer, you see its a military base. You hear music coming from it. What does the music sound like, you might ask? Well, it sounds like Atomtrakt. Atomtrakt has its own brand of ambient/neofolk/industrial insanity that I have come to know and deeply love. Atomtrakt is from the same mind as Vinterriket, so those who are interested in his work will love this album.

Many of the tracks sound similar, but a couple really stand out. The first one that I call to mind quickly Odland. It starts out with typical Vinterriket synths. But then when you're not expecting it, these epic and industrialized drums come in, pounding out a beat that sticks in your mind forever. The drums die out for a bit, going back to quiet synths, and you think that the epic drums won't come back in. But you're wrong. Their back, and this time they seem more ferocious. Overall, it was an amazing track.

The next bombarding and militant track of insanity was Kalte Relikte Des Verfalls. It's been featured on a couple compilations here and there, and for good reason. It has a completely different sound from the rest of the album, to an extent. The beginning is set in place by what sounds like a choir singing to the melody of an industrial wasteland. And, for the most part, it keeps up for the whole of the song. I constantly find myself listening to it over and over again.

This album is a solid one. It can be bought from Mercenary Musik (www.mercenarymusik.com) for a reasonable price.
